Anna Rose O’Sullivan
Principal dancer with The Royal Ballet and LCB patron
LCB productions: A Little Princess 2004
“This remarkable organisation helped shape my passion to pursue a career in performing after dancing as the Little Princess age 9. It fills me with pride to be a part of supporting London Children’s Ballets future as a Patron.”
Q: What do you treasure most about your time at LCB?
A: The friendships I made at LCB hold a special place in my heart. The bonds formed during those years of training and performing together are incredibly strong. We shared so many experiences and those shared moments have created friendships that have lasted a lifetime.
Q: Did you only train in ballet when you were younger?
A: While ballet was definitely my primary focus, I explored various forms of dance during my childhood but was drawn to ballet and singing!
Q: What advice would you give to young dancers?
A: My advice to young dancers would be to soak up every bit of knowledge given to you by your teachers. They have such valuable information to share, having had years of experience. Respecting your peers and hard work are so important in any industry and don’t forget to find joy in what you do. We dance because we love it!
Q: What are your career highlights?
A: Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of bringing to life some of the most iconic roles in classical ballet. I very much enjoy performing in story ballets, where I can be a character and live their life on stage! Playing the roles of Juliet in Romeo and Juliet and Princess Aurora in Sleeping Beauty have been particularly memorable experiences for me. These roles challenged me both technically and emotionally- it was incredibly fulfilling to embody these characters and bring their stories to life.
Q: Why do you dance?
A: Dance has always been my passion- I love how it makes me feel. I enjoy the thrill of performing for an audience, knowing that you're perhaps inspiring others and bringing them joy.
Q: What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
A: It was from my mum! "Treat people how you would like to be treated." Respect and kindness can never be undervalued.
Fun Fact: Did you know that before Anna Rose went to The Royal Ballet School, she played the role of Cossete in Les Misérables and performed in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on the West End.
