An Honor-able first full week of rehearsals

Posted on Wednesday 24th April, 2019
Honor has danced with LCB in 3 tours and this is now her second time in the West End company. Here she reflects on her time with LCB and what it means to her:' My first time with LCB was performing in Nanny McPhee with Main Company.  I was ‘behind the green baize curtain’ as a kitchen maid and my two brothers teased me that when (if?!) they came to watch they wouldn’t even be able to see. However, my role was lots of fun with dancing and acting combined.  After three amazing Tours I’m delighted…

Heart-pounding auditions

Posted on Tuesday 20th December, 2016
The curtain came down for the last time. Sunday 24 April 2016. It was all over. After a wonderful 4 months of intensive training and rehearsals and 4 wonderful days of performances, Little Lord Fauntleroy had officially ended. Tears were flowing, dancers were hugging. This was last April. It is October, and auditions are beginning for the new London Children's Ballet's production of The Secret Garden. How time has flown. I could not believe that I was on my way to the first round of the auditio…

Chloe: A dream come true

Posted on Tuesday 17th May, 2016
When I was three, I went to see my first ballet: “La Fille mal Gardee” at the Royal Opera House. I enjoyed it so much that I was dancing all throughout the lovely performance. At the end, a lady came to me and said: “Lovely dancing. Maybe it will be you on stage one day.” It has been my dream ever since. Thank you LCB for making my dream come true. Chloe: My movie star moment

Hi my name is Chloe and I am 9 years old and apparently the shortest and smallest in the company of the London Children’s Ballet.☺ Here at the photo shoot I feel like a professional dancer. One of the mums said to me with a grin "so this is what it is like to be a model". Whilst I was waiting for my turn I was putting on lip balm and suddenly when I looked up the filmer was taking a video of me! He told me to do an explanation of my maid's outfit; it was really fun trying to guess all the bits …

Chloe: Facing the judges

Posted on Tuesday 17th May, 2016
Hi my name is Chloe, and this is my blog on the final auditions. I hope you enjoy this! My heart was beating fast and finally there was the audition room. This was the finals where they decide who goes into the main company and who goes into the touring company. It was great to meet new people, make friends and to build confidence. It was such an amazing opportunity performing in front of a panel: you get to know what it feels like to audition for a real West End show. It was such an incredibl…

Amari: Dealing with negativity

Posted on Tuesday 17th May, 2016
I started ballet when I was 4. I heard about LCB when a good friend Maddie was in Ballet Shoes 6 years ago. I was very excited for my first audition. Unfortunately I didn’t get in, but LCB invited me to join their boys only classes. LCB’s ballet for boys was great because I was around boys who actually like ballet, instead of boys who think it’s for girls. I have to be strong physically to have great elevation in my jumps and also so I can lift the girls, but people at school don’t always think …
